My inspiration and technique has been from stitch and fabric and my background knowledge. With this media I mixed into it photographic images, creating pieces that unite stitch and photography together.
I wanted to capture my parents and to give them mortality in my worked pieces by creating textile layered portraits, by combining my parents and the tree which represent to me the protection and security that they both offer.
The tree to me is the symbol of life,  I chose this prospective because it gives the view of looking up into the vast world beyond, but being protected by the canopy of the branches giving  both security and protection; the sky representing the freedom beyond.
